Upon entering our store you will be greeted by one of our friendly and knowledgeable staff that will help you layout and design your art.  They will discuss any ideas you might have for the piece and offer suggestions for treatment of the piece for the greatest protection and display possibilities.

A good artistic eye is something that comes naturally- there are certain guidelines to custom framing which lead to good design.  These guidelines will produce a beautiful and well-balanced framing presentation--enhancing the artwork without overpowering it.

For example, the width of the mat border should never match the width of the frame.  This tends to draw the eye away from the art work.  Poorly placed decorative elements, such a French line, can detract from the beauty of the finished package, so they are used sparely.

Why are mats used in a framing package?  For other Frequently Asked Questions visit our Framing FAQ page. Click here for this page.

Your designer will guide you through the decision making process, making suggestions based on their knowledge of color and design theory.  You know what you like, and you know what will fit into your décor. Together, you decide if the piece should be matted and how many mats are needed to achieve the desired effect.

Once you have agreed on the frame package design, it will be challenging and fun to select just the right frame.  We have access to literally thousands of frame samples, yet your designer will help narrow them down what will really work with your artwork.  The additions of filets or French lines and beveled accents can enhance the beauty of your final presentation.
Other things to consider during the design phase are the type of glazing and type of mounting and technique used in the process.  Our suggestions will be based on our knowledge of conservation framing and what is appropriate for the preservation of your art.

We help you make the right choice. You are a stranger only once at Art Accents Gallery.

THE “FRAMING” PROCESS

When we take in an art project for a customer, we use this procedure:

  1. The first step in completing a framing project is to process it for needed components and storing it safely while it waits for ordered supplies and comes up on the framing schedule.
  2. When it comes up on the schedule, the artwork is reviewed, re-measured, and attached to the backing board in the appropriate manner.
  3. Then the selected mats are cut, the glass is chosen and cut to size, and all of the components are inspected for damage, cuts, debris from the mat cuts and the glass is meticulously cleaned.
  4. It is at this point the piece is re-measured once more, and the frame is cut to fit. The corners are both glued and v-nailed to ensure tight corners.
  5. The final step is to attach a dust cover on the back which also keeps bugs out of your artwork.
  6. When the piece is completed, the customer is called and the artwork is placed behind the counter until the customer comes to pick it up and take it home to enjoy for many years to come.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

We've all heard the saying, "Make a Grand Entrance." Well, what about making your "entryway" grand?

Mirrors are a marvelous way to get the most out of your entryway space: they serve as both decorative and functional objects. Whether you're working with a modest square of floor space or an elaborate foyer, a mirror will do wonders to create a feeling of space.

Mirrors can also lighten and brighten a space since they'll reflect light. If your entryway is small, a mirror will make it appear more spacious.  If possible, hang your mirror so that it reflects an attractive object.

And, as with your artwork, the right frame around your mirror makes a world of difference. The frame adds to the look of the mirror--making it seem traditional or modern, elegant or fun--and will enhance the space surrounding it.

By working with a custom framer, you can design your own mirror. You'll be delighted at the variety of styles from which you can choose. If you've spent months searching for a mirror with just the right color frame to mach your furniture or metal accessories, your problem is solved!
